The uniqueness of the Owatrol trademark comes from its origins : one from Northern America where a strong expertise was developed in rust protection ; the other one from Scandinavian, which has a strong tradition and expertise in wood and marine protection. Today Owatrol, more alive than ever has a rich history in "First" on the market:
  • 1956 - Rustol, first clear rust inhibitor.
  • 1978 - Textrol, first Penetrating wood oil.
  • 1986 - D1, becomes the number 1 saturating wood oil of choice for the Navy.
  • 1987 - Dilunett, becomes the first water-based stripper.
  • 1990 - Aquatrol becomes the first water-based wood saturator.
  • 1990 - Floetrol is the first acrylic paint additive.
  • 2000 - Solid Colour Stain (SCS) is the first opaque stain with new bonding technology.
  • 2008 - Aquanett is the first dedicated wood oil stripper.
  • 2008 - The Owatrol brand becomes the property of the Durieu Group.
